I’m a Board Certified family law attorney serving clients across Greater Houston. I started Kuehm Family Law because every family deserves a lawyer who treats their case like it matters – because it does.
Before I owned my own firm, I spent nearly two decades inside this field: first as a paralegal alongside my father starting in 2000, then as a licensed Texas attorney since 2007. I’ve handled divorces, custody trials, modifications, enforcements, adoptions, and terminations of parental rights in every family court across Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston counties.
In 2019, I earned Board Certification in Family Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization – a credential held by fewer than 1% of all Texas attorneys are board certified.
I grew up around family law. My father, Robert Kuehm, has practiced for more than 40 years and is himself Board Certified. From 2000 – while I was still in college – I worked alongside him as a paralegal, sitting in on client meetings, drafting pleadings, and walking through the doors of Houston courthouses long before I had a bar card.
That apprenticeship shaped everything about how I practice now. I saw firsthand how good lawyers protect their clients, how courts actually work, and how the wrong strategy can cost a parent custody or a spouse their financial future.
After earning my undergraduate degree in History from the University of Houston in 2002 and my Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 2006, I was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 2007. I joined my father’s firm, then served as partner at The Kuehm Law Firm, PLLC. I later spent six years at Slate & Associates – taking on high-conflict custody and high-asset divorce cases – before opening Kuehm Family Law in 2024.
I treat the consultation like it’s important. You leave with a real understanding of your options, the timeline, and what your case will realistically cost – not a sales pitch.

I match the strategy to your goals. Some clients want a fast, low-conflict resolution through mediation or collaborative divorce. Others have a spouse who won’t negotiate fairly and need a trial lawyer. I’ve done both – and the strategy should fit the case, not the other way around.
I know Houston courts. I’ve practiced in every family court in Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston counties. Local knowledge – judges’ tendencies, court culture, what works in mediation here – is a real advantage.
