What to Expect at
Your Consultation
A consultation with Kuehm Family Law is private, judgment-free, and focused on giving you a real understanding of your situation. Here’s what we’ll cover:
- Your situation. Marriage, children, finances, timeline, what’s already happened, what’s coming.
- Your goals. What does a good outcome look like for you?
- Your options. Litigation, mediation, collaborative divorce, or settlement – and the trade-offs of each.
- Timeline & cost. A realistic projection of how long your matter will take and what it will cost.
Confidentiality: Everything you tell us during the consultation is privileged, whether or not you hire the firm.
What to Bring
(If You Have It)
You don’t need to bring anything. But if you have these, they help us advise you faster:
- Any existing court orders (custody, divorce, support)
- Petitions or filings you’ve been served with
- Recent pay stubs / tax returns (for support estimates)
- A list of major assets and debts (for property division cases)
- A timeline of events you’d like us to know about
If you don’t have these, don’t worry – we’ll get them later.
Is the consultation confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed in a consultation is protected by attorney-client privilege whether or not you hire the firm.
How fast will you respond?
We respond to phone messages and form submissions within one business day, often the same day.
Do you offer evening or weekend consultations?
When possible, yes. Call us and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
What if I'm not sure I need a lawyer yet?
That's exactly when a consultation is most useful. We'll help you understand whether your situation actually needs legal action - or whether you can wait, mediate, or handle it yourself.
